NOVEL STUDY
AR POINTS
ASSIGNMENTS

Our study of Greek Mythology will encompass the reading of several familiar Greek myths in short story form.  I look forward to the activities and games that go along with this unit. We finish the study with group projects based on the myths in different game formats.

 

 

10 AR Points of outside reading are required each six weeks. These 10 points are weighted as a test grade for each six weeks.

ORAL BOOK REPORT SIGN UPS WILL BEGIN SOON FOR THE 2ND SEMESTER.    YOUR STUDENT WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN UP FOR A DATE TO PRESENT AN ORAL REPORT ON ONE OF HIS/HER FAVORITE BOOKS. They will also be expected to turn in a "Sandwich Book Report" prior to presentation.

 

Oral Book Report Requirements:

TITLE,AUTHOR,MAIN CHARACTERS, PROBLEM/CONFLICT, 3 MAJOR EVENTS, RESOLUTION, GENRE, AND RATING BY STUDENT

They will then be asked questions about their books by their classmates.

All Spelling and Writing Assignments will be done in cursive handwriting for the 2nd semester.

THE LIBRARY WILL CLOSE FOR THE YEAR ON MAY 21.  MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENT HAS RETURNED ALL CHECKED OUT BOOKS AND PAID FINES SO THEY WILL RECEIVE A REPORT CARD AT THE END OF THE YEAR.

To promote and enhance their reading skills, I ask that each student read 15-20 minutes each evening. They should have at least one library book in their possession at any time.

WE GO TO THE LIBRARY DURING CLASS EACH WEDNESDAY.

5th 6 Weeks Reward

Again, the teachers are planning a fun event for the end of the 5th six weeks for our students who are maturing into Middle Schoolers. No more than Demerits and no late or missing work will be required.

Please check your student's planner regularly to see if there are any demerits that have been assigned that you are not aware of.
