"What is the goal of world language education?" - To create multilingual people who have intercultural skills focusing on the 5 C's:
COMMUNICATION - interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational (listening, speaking, reading, and writing).
CULTURES - gaining an understanding of practices, products, and perspectives of other cultures.
CONNECTIONS - using the new language to reinforce learning in other subjects.
COMPARISONS - making comparisons between English and Spanish.
COMMUNITIES - looking for ways to use Spanish outside the classroom and becoming a lifelong language learner.
High school students strive to progress to the next level of language proficiency from beginner (novice) to intermediate or advanced.
