Child Nutrition

Welcome to the Maypearl ISD Child Nutrition Homepage!

Thank you for choosing the Maypearl ISD Child Nutrition Team to provide nutritious meals for your child. We consider it an honor to serve our students every day and play an active role in their daily nutrition.

The Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010 put USDA school meals on a path to ending childhood hunger, reducing childhood obesity and improving the diets of children.  Maypearl ISD has an agreement with the Texas Department of Agriculture to operate the Child Nutrition Programs as outlined in Federal and State regulations.  Our goal is to provide nutrition for students, which fuels successful learning.

We encourage each parent to set up a LINQ account at https://linqconnect.com  to be able to monitor / pay on your child’s account.  It is a very easy process.  This account lets you monitor your child’s meal activity.  It will let you know if they eat, when they eat, how much they eat.  If you send money with your child, you can check to be sure it made it to the cashier.  You could set up alerts to let you know when the balance is getting low.  There are a few payment options.  You can make a one-time payment, a recurring monthly payment, or a donation for students in need who do not qualify for the meal program.

Starting the week of 7/14/25, we will begin distributing letters and applications electronically to the households of the children in the district about eligibility benefits. Families are encouraged to complete the Application for Free and Reduced-Price School Meals, also available here, https://linqconnect.com, and return the completed form online or to any school office. Physical copies can of course, be made available at school offices and by request.  The link to the application to download, then print and return or email is here: Meal Applications for Parents

The application will determine a child’s eligibility for free and reduced-price meals and may assist in the determination of eligibility for other state or federal benefits. Only one application needs to be completed per household. Schools will notify the household of the child’s eligibility. The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) administers school nutrition programs in Texas and offers an eligibility calculator at www.SquareMeals.org/ProgramEligibility

Decisions regarding payment for school meals are made at the national-government level, not by the school nutrition team or TDA. The dedicated staff at Maypearl ISD are looking forward to serving healthy, balanced meals to students in the new school year. These meals, whether paid, free, or reduced-price, offer a good source of nutrition for children.

This information is confidential.  All applications will be processed within a couple of days.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Michael Mitchell at (972) 435-1041.
