I was born in Boston, Massachusetts and grew up as a "Navy Brat" until my dad retired. Besides Massachusetts, I have lived in Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, Nevada, and Texas. I have lived in Texas most of my adult life. My husband Bill and I have owned property in this area since 2008 and have actually lived here for 7 years right outside the Maypearl city limits. We enjoy spending time taking care of our property, dogs, cats, and horses. We have 4 grown children and 12 grandchildren. I have a Bachelor's degree in English, a minor in history, a Master's degree in Education with a focus in ELAR instruction, and am in graduate school at UT Tyler taking graduate-level English classes. The 2018-2019 school year will be my 4th year to teach at Maypearl, and my 16th year to teach English. Other districts where I have taught include Red Oak ISD and Venus ISD. Prior to teaching and working in the field of education, I spent years working in corporate sales, management, and marketing. I believe that my years of work outside of teaching enable me to understand the importance of analytical and communication skills and a strong work ethic; I bring that knowledge coupled with my love of literature and writing with me into the classroom to help guide my instruction.
English classes are most important to you whether you plan to go into the workforce or to college. We teach you to read effectively and with a purpose, to analyze literature, to write critically, and to think on a higher plane. Those are skills you need no matter what path in life you travel. I look forward to meeting all of you, and I'm asking for your support to make 2018 - 2019 the best school year ever for your child.
I can't wait to see my old students and meet my new students!
