My name is Kathryn Southard and I am very excited to become the new assistant principal at Maypearl High School. I would like to share with you a little bit about myself. After growing up and graduating in the small, east Texas town of Wills Point, I joined the Texas Army National Guard. After 9-11 I was called into active duty. I had the honor of serving in the Family Readiness Center. I helped families of deployed soldiers with anything they needed while their loved one was away; from home and auto repair to insurance, medical needs and everything in between. I take pride in helping children and families in need and a service role is truly my calling.
I have been married to my husband Bryan for nearly twenty years. Together we have three children. My oldest son Hunter recently finished Fire/EMT school and plans to begin Paramedic school in the fall. My son Garrett will be an incoming freshman at Maypearl High School and my daughter Adalynn will be in fourth grade at LSK. I received my bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies and master’s degree in educational administration, both from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
I have been in education for fourteen years. I begin each school day with the belief that I am not here to be average, I am here to be awesome. I will go above and beyond to help all students be successful. I am passionate about finding each child’s unique niche and helping them to thrive in that area. We all have contributions to make and everyone should feel like they are a valued member of our learning community. I look forward to serving the students and families of Maypearl High School.
