Dear Parents of Pre-K Students,
We are glad you have chosen to register your child for Pre-K next year. We have a lot of fun growing and learning at school together. Below you will find some of our policies and procedures that will help you and your child be prepared to come to school in August.
Both classes (AM and PM) will eat one meal while at school. If you child will not be eating a school lunch, please send something from home for them to eat.
We also have a light snack on most days. Parents are asked to send various snack items throughout the year for our class to share.
We highly recommend that each child attending school be able to use the restroom independently. The students are only here for half a day and we want to maximize our learning and playing time. We also ask that children wear easily accessible clothing to help prevent accidents. Pants and shorts that are easily pulled up and down are the best option for little ones new to independent toileting.
We understand that accidents will happen, from time to time, so we require each child to have a change of clothes (shirt, bottoms, and underwear) to be kept in their locker all year. In the event of a "wet" accident, a teacher or a teacher's assistant will help instruct the child to change clothes and place them in a plastic bag. If a child soils themselves they will go to the nurse and a parent will be called to either change the child at school or take them home.
We go outside to play most days, and we advise parents to send children to school in closed-toe, rubber soled shoes for safety reasons. The playground has a mulch surface and many climbing areas in which flip-flops and sandals pose a risk for injury.
We look forward to meeting you and your precious little one. Pre-K is a year full of adventure and tremendous growth in all areas. We will be growing and learning in our physical development, emotional development, and academic development.
