Mr. Nicholas Vélez
Born, raised and educated in a small town, San Germán, Puerto Rico. Lived extensively in New York City (Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island. Married to María Luisa Wilson (Vélez). I have 6 children: David (51), Mark Anthony (49), Caesar (45), Robert Michael (33), Kristyn Ashley (31), and Derek Jason (16). I served in the United States Navy from 1964 (VietNam era) until 1984, and retired as a Senior Chief (Jet Mechanic). I worked for and retired from Northrop Grumman as a Senior Instructional Specialist.
As far as teaching in the public sector, I have been working as a Spanish I, II, III, IV, V, AP teacher (certified in Texas) since 2002. I have also taught Latin I, II, III and college-level Spanish (Dallas Baptist University). My teaching journey has taken me through Lancaster HS, Keller HS, Hutcheson JHS, Lamar HS (both in Arlington), Faith Family Academy, and finally here at Maypearl HS.
My formal education consists of a B.A.S. in Management and a dual M.B.A. (Management and Marketing) from Dallas Baptist University. Currently in the final stages of obtaining a PhD in Human Resources from Capella University.
I am a licensed Private Pilot with close to 750 hours logged, a certified Scuba Diver (Rescure Diver), a former sky diver, former dog trainer (AKC certified), a former licensed Real Estate salesperson (New York), and for the better part of 22 years, had my own rock n' roll band (Nothin' Fancy).
