Hello, my name is John Dugan Burgess and I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. I come from an agricultural background being taught at a young age what hard work is all about. Upon graduation from Joshua High School, I worked in the horse ranching industry for 23 years. In 2010 I decided to go back to college and finish my education I attended Tarleton State University where I earned a bachelor's degree as an ag teacher with a minor in animal science.  After graduating in the fall of 2012 I continued my education and earned a Masters's degree in Agriculture with an emphasis on animal science ( Specifically Beef Cattle).  Upon graduating I went to work for Sanderson Farms managing broiler houses for a school year. I missed working with the youth of Texas and came back to teaching. I am one of two advisors to the Maypearl FFA. Duties for the chapter are advising our Ag Mechanics show team, advising our students with their animal projects, training various LDE and CDE teams, and Student Awards. My goal is to make Maypearl FFA one of the premier programs in the state of Texas.

I would like to Welcome my new teaching partner Miss Karlee Jones to our program.

If there is anything I can do to help you please email me or come by the ag building and see me. I look forward to working with the students and parents of Maypearl.
