Mrs. Kristy Teague
Originally from Waco, Texas, I studied Spanish in high school and college, and I lived and studied one summer in Madrid, Spain in 1990. I became a Spanish teacher in 1998 after additional studies at West Texas A&M in Canyon. For six years, I taught in Borger, Burleson, and Crowley before moving to Springfield, Missouri in 2004. There, I filled other roles in education, such as administrative support, curriculum development, and librarian. My husband is a minister and our travels took us to French-speaking West Africa, where we lived in Dakar, Senegal (2007-2008) and Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (2017-2020). For the last two school years, I served as a librarian for a Pre-K to grade 12 international school in Abidjan.
I graduated from the University of North Texas in 2008 with a master’s degree in library science and management. Since then, I have added additional studies in language and literature from Missouri State and Regent University. Returning to the classroom, this will be my seventh year to teach Spanish, and my first year to teach at Maypearl High.
I have been married to Tim since 1994, and we have three children: Sarah (23), Luke (16), and Lillian, “Lilly” (14). Sarah is a journalist and graduated from Missouri State in May 2020. Luke and Lilly will be students at MHS in the 11th and 9th grades this fall. When I have time, my hobbies include playing games with my family, cooking, planting flowers, swimming, and spending time outdoors. As you can imagine, I enjoy reading and studying language.
Although I enjoy traveling, I am happy to be back in Texas and teaching at Maypearl High School!
