Maypearl Primary CO2 Daily Monitor Readings
-
The rating posted in the document is the total parts per million displayed on in-room device collected twice per day (one in the morning and once in the afternoon).
-
How to calculate: Outdoor CO2 or Carbon Dioxide is typically between 400 ppm to 500 ppm, subtract the outdoor CO2 total (400-500ppm) from the total amount on in-classroom display, and the total should be approximately 700 ppm or less per the TDSHS IAQ voluntary guidelines, under 5,000 ppm for 8 hours exposure per OSHA or 800 ppm per OSHA proposed level that should incite responsive action.
-
"In some sensitive individuals, high CO2 levels can cause headaches and fatigue. However, most times the CO2 concentration is not responsible for the occupant complaints." - per TASB report
-
Protocols that may be utilized to maintain low CO2 levels:
-
Internal Classroom Door Open to hallway only (not required to be closed).
-
Exterior Doors opened into secure perimeter fencing area with officer actively monitoring only.
-
An exterior window may be opened to lower CO2 level, closed once the level is below acceptable level. Exterior windows outside secure perimeter are too high off the ground and small enough to restrict access. All other windows are inside a secure perimeter fencing and most are the same height and size.
