PRE-KINDERGARTEN & KINDERGARTEN 

If your child is NEW to the district and will be entering pre-kindergarten or kindergarten during the 2026-2027 school year, be sure to get them enrolled during Pre-K & Kindergarten Online Pre-Registration beginning April 2, 2026.

(currently enrolled students will not need to complete registration until June, details will be on our enrollment  & registration site)

Starting April 2nd,2026, registration for your pre-k or kindergarten student can be completed online or through a scheduled appointment with our District Registrar. While online enrollment is strongly encouraged, we understand that some may not be able to complete everything online (i.e. - those needing assistance turning in documents virtually.

All families enrolling in Pre-K 4 must complete the Pre-K Eligibility Application to determine eligibility.

1. Enroll your child online (this is required for every new student)
2. (only if needed) : Call or email to request an in-person appointment starting April 7th, 2026  (only for registrants needing a face-to-face appointment)
   • In-person appointments, held at the child's home campus or with district, are primarily scheduled to determine Pre-K eligibility or for those having difficulty submitting documents online.
     • NOTE: Before an in-person appointment can be scheduled, parents must start the enrollment process online.

We are so excited to invite our newest learners to Lorene Smith Kirkpatrick Elementary! If you have a child heading into Pre-K or Kindergarten, here are the dates you need to know:

• ✅ April 2: Online pre-registration officially opens!

• 🎉 April 16: Join us for our Round-Up Event from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM at the school. Come see the campus and get excited for the new year!

• ⏳ May 26: Registration opens for our currently enrolled students.

Important Note: Online registration and the Pre-K Screener should be completed prior to attending, unless you need assistance.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN ELIGIBILITY

Pre-K Eligibility Criteria

Maypearl ISD provides free pre-kindergarten to students who meet at least one of the following eligibility criteria as outlined by the Texas Education Agency . 

A child who is four (4) years of age on or before September 1 of the current school year is eligible for a pre-kindergarten program if the child meets one of the qualifiers listed below, documentation to support your eligibility requirements must be provided when you complete the pre-k screener:

1. Unable to speak and comprehend the English language;
2. Economically disadvantaged (qualifies for free or reduced lunches);
3. Homeless (as defined by 42 United States Code (U.S.C.) Section 1143a);
4. Child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty (must be on active duty the first day of school);
5. Child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty;
6. Child is, or ever has been, in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services following an adversary hearing. This also includes children who have been adopted or returned to their parents; or
7. Child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award as: a peace officer under Section 3106.002, Government Code; a firefighter under Section 3106.003, Government Code; or an emergency medical first responder under Section 3106.004, Government Code

Kindergarten Eligibility 

To be eligible for enrollment in a KINDERGARTEN class,  a child must be at least five years of age as of September 1, and reside in the district.
